Vogue Arabia x Amber : Dubai Fashion Weekend

The lovely people at Vogue Arabia and Amber collaborated this year to bring us Dubai residents, the 2017  #VOGUEXAMBER fashion weekend.

The event was held over 2 days here in Dubai (Thurs 14th and Fri 15th of September) at both the Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates.

Since we live only about a 15 min car journey from the Mall of The Emirates, we decided to visit on the 2nd day of the event.

Heres the lowdown of the event #VOGUEXAMBER

Let's begin with a brief history first, Vogue Arabia launched online in October 2016 and only in printed format in March 2017. Vogue Arabia is the Middle East edition and distributed in several Middle East countries, including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait. The Arabian edition focuses primarily on Middle Eastern fashion news and trends, Arabian model interviews, Middle East bloggers and Arabian beauty trends.

I myself have always been a Vogue girl (especially of the holy grail Italian VOGUE editions ) so since moving to Dubai, I have enjoyed collecting Vogue Arabia since the first copy and been blown away by the Arabian imagery of the ME edition.

The Fashion Weekend Scoop

Let me give you a bit of a background on the #VOGUEXAMBER collaboration. Amber is essentially the loyalty card of choice here in Dubai, one of the best available in the region (aside from Sephora) The Amber points generated on each big spend can be redeemed at participating stores for exclusive pre-sale access and used to get a price reductions at top-notch brands as well as a full host of additional benefits including free cake on your birthday!

The Amber App is also a great addition and very easy to use, the app provides great calendar event information and early access details or exclusive details from your favourite luxury brands.

The #VOGUEXAMBER event details were released on the AMBER app about 2 weeks in advance, so plenty of time to prepare and schedule into my diary.

Harvey Nichols was the main host for the MOE event, on day 2 of the fashion weekend. Inside the department store, there several mini stalls with various offerings from brow makeovers at the Vogue beauty station to the Vogue editors recommended products.

One of the special stalls was an exclusive bag and shoe customisation service, offered by Charlotte Hudders.

Charlotte is a very talented artist who specialises in costume & props, set design and styling. If that isn't enough, she also hand-paints shoes and accessories, with her own beautiful artwork.

If you're located in Dubai and looking for a special service from the talented artist, she is your girl!

Rest Of The Event

Whilst at Harvey Nic's we were entertained by a fantastic live DJ set by the talented Maz Hakim and provided with free refreshments in form of yummy fruit mocktails & HN branded macaroons!

I couldn't help myself but was lured over to the YSL section and naturally had to try on the Chevron bag in black caviar leather... I'm officially in LOVE with this bag! I have decided it will be mine and firmly place this stunner slap bang on no1 slot of my luxury bag wish-list. I can honestly tell you that my husband isn't at all helpful in these situations, as he is a classic impulse shopper he was urging me to buy the bag of my new dreams, however again I remained strong and decided on this occasion, to hold from making the purchase.

I used the ambience of the #VOGUEXAMBER event to channel my thoughts into this blog post, opposed to me parting with my dirhams.

We did also pop over Alexander McQueen to enjoy an exclusive display of evening gowns which were stunning and finally over to the Charlotte Olympia store and had the pleasure of viewing the  Dubai exclusive flats from her 'Wish you were here' range and the new film-noir inspired collection 'Accessory to Murder' Fall 2017 -  With the store offering free popcorn and cinema nibbles, we felt pretty spoilt by the #VOGUEXAMBER weekend.

Vogues Editor in Chief - Manuel Arnaut was billed to appear, however, with no time slot confirmed we didn't get to stay long enough to see him, hopefully, next year or at a further vogue event we will get to meet the man himself.

All in all, it was a fun few hours and made shopping just that little bit extra special!

Let me know your thoughts on this type of shopping event and if you were there, your favourite part of the weekend!

Hugs
